Keiko at the Capitol

Keiko Hiromi (’05) has her work on display at the Massachusetts State House this week.  The exhibit is open from 9-5 in Doric Hall at the State House.  A “meet-the-artist” reception will be held this Friday May 14 from 4-6pm.

From Keiko’s website:

” (The show) features photographs of neighborhood residents, many of them first and second generation immigrants living in Dorchester, MA, where Hiromi also lives.  Her raw, yet sensitive photographs show the daily lives of the people who live on Monadnock Street.

The Monadnock Street neighborhood has been a melting pot for immigrants over the better part of the last century.  Thus it has a unique, vibrant quality not seen on other streets.  Looking at Hiromi’s Monadnock Street, State Representative Marie St. Fleur commented, “Keiko Hiromi’s photographs are quite arresting, they capture the vibrancy, intensity, scarcity yet wealth in the lives of the Monadnock Street community.”
