Congratulations to Fiona Boyd!

Fiona Boyd’s photography, first year NESOP student,  was chosen for Rifrákt’s first publication, 25 Emerging Boston Artists 2010.

As stated on Rifrákt.com:

Rifrákt presents its premiere publication launch party on Friday, August 6th! The Temple {sound and stage} in Jamaica Plain will be hosting the event. Select works from the book artists will be on display. Boston bands, Huellas and The Organ Beats will also perform.

I was trying to capture the American flag and the people around it because I struggle to understand the symbolism that is attached to national flags.

Although Japanese people have special feelings to their flag as well, Americans seem to have even stronger feelings toward their flag. My interpretation is that the American flag seems to represent their spirit and vibrant patriotism.
